Albertas Minimum Wage

The minimum wage in Alberta is 8.40 canadian dollars per hour. The employer may deduct a maximum of CA$3.65 per day if he provides the employee a place to stay. The employer may also deduct a maximum of CA$2.76 for every meal provided to the employee. The tax rate is one of the lowest in Canada - 10 percent of taxable income.

An employee is entitled to atleast one day of rest per week. Working straight for two weeks, the employee is entitled to two consecutive days of rest. For every five consecutive hours of work the employee must be given a thirty minute break. The longest shift is twelve hours. Sometimes employers would opt for a compressed work week. That is longer shifts (not to exceed 12 hours) for fewer work days a week.
